Sponsored walk - Lost Route of the Vikings Riccall To Stamford Bridge

Well we did it.... 16mile sponsored walk hike from Riccall on the River Ouse to Stamford Bridge on the River Derwent. Me and my bezzie mates Gary and Paul, and Strida, my Cockapoo, set off at 9.15am yesterday and passed through Skipworth Common, Thorganby, Whedrake, Elvington, Kexby, Low Catton finishing at Stamford Bridge at 6pm. We were doing it on behalf of the Battle of Stamford Bridge Society in the hope of discovering the route the viking may have taken on the day of the battle in SB in 1066.
It wasn't a difficult walk but it was taxing, I think my walking boots are finally done for, the sole is now paper thin and i felt every last stone and piece of gravel underfoot, i have a big red blister to prove it! I took video selfies as we went along so watch if you want.
After doing that I have the utter, and utmost respect for those men both from the English army AND the viking army who managed to walk or run miles and miles only to have to fight a battle at the end of it... i had a battle to even lift my feet onto the couch when i got home! They must have been really hardened and tough, tough people.
Thanks to all those who have sponsored us and it will go towards the society and the money needed to keep our heritage alive.....
